Sea Star Charters, owned and operated by Tyler Driver George, officially welcomes guests aboard for guided fishing and sightseeing adventures rooted in the culture, history, and traditions of Nuu-chah-nulth territory.
Born and raised in Port Alberni with deep family ties to Ahousaht, Tyler spent his childhood fishing alongside his father, uncles, and Elders. Those experiences shaped not only his knowledge of the ocean but also a deep respect for traditional harvesting practices and the responsibility of sharing his culture with others. His father, a hereditary artist, instilled in him a strong pride in his Nuu-chah-nulth heritage that continues to guide his work today.
Launching Sea Star Charter has been years in the making. Tyler spent years commercial fishing while working toward the certifications required to become a licensed charter operator. He completed his training through Coastal Restorations, where he appreciated the team's commitment to supporting students as they worked toward achieving their certifications.

Today, Sea Star Charters offers fully guided fishing trips for salmon, halibut, lingcod, and other West Coast species, along with unforgettable wildlife viewing opportunities. Guests regularly encounter humpback whales, orcas, sea lions, bald eagles, and some of the most breathtaking coastal scenery on Vancouver Island.
Every charter begins with a comprehensive safety briefing, reflecting Tyler's commitment to providing a safe, professional, and enjoyable experience for every guest. His extensive knowledge of local waters, combined with genuine hospitality, ensures each trip is memorable both on and off the water.
For Tyler, however, the experience goes far beyond fishing.
Every charter is an opportunity to share the stories, history, and cultural significance of Nuu-chah-nulth territory, helping visitors develop a deeper appreciation for the lands and waters that have sustained his people for generations.
As Sea Star Charters begins its first season, Tyler is excited to welcome guests while building a business that creates opportunities for his family and celebrates the place he proudly calls home.
Reflecting on his entrepreneurial journey, Tyler credits NEDC with helping him navigate the path to business ownership.
"NEDC helped me with all of the paperwork and gave me the gentle push I needed in the right direction. Their support helped me turn my dream into a business that's providing for my family while allowing me to share my culture and my love of the ocean with others."
Sea Star Charters is now booking guided fishing and sightseeing adventures, offering visitors an authentic West Coast experience led by someone whose connection to these waters spans generations.
