Draxon Athletics: Strength, Culture and Movement

Nanaimo, BC – Draxon Athletics is preparing to launch its new line of premium performance sportswear, bringing together strength, movement, culture and purpose.

A member of the Tlowitsis First Nation, Quinn grew up on Malcolm Island near Alert Bay, where being active was a way of life. Soccer was a big part of his childhood and community, and his parents taught him from an early age that fitness was important for health, longevity and overall well-being.

That foundation eventually led Quinn to martial arts, including jiu-jitsu and kickboxing. After some time away, returning to training reminded him how important movement is to both his physical and mental well-being.

“Our Elders tell us that we are warriors,” Quinn says. “Warriors are meant to stand up for the weak and do what’s right.”

That warrior ethos was further shaped by Quinn’s three years as an Army Reservist and his experience in martial arts. Both taught him the value of discipline, preparation and using strength with purpose.

Those principles now help guide Draxon Athletics, his premium performance sportswear company.

The idea for Draxon grew as Quinn became increasingly disappointed with athletic clothing on the market. He saw prices rising while quality, variety and creativity seemed to be declining, and believed there was an opportunity to create something better.

Draxon’s first collection is taking shape with gym and martial arts apparel, rash guards in development and golf apparel planned for next spring. Quinn is gathering feedback directly from athletes about fit, flexibility and performance as he continues to refine each piece.

An accomplished artist and carver whose work has been sold to private clients and galleries around the world, Quinn brings that same creativity and attention to detail to Draxon. His late uncle, renowned Kwakwaka'wakw artist Beau Dick, was an important creative influence, while his father encouraged him to pursue ambitious ideas.

Quinn’s experience as a carver taught him that details matter and that good work should have meaning. That philosophy is reflected in Draxon’s high-quality technical fabrics, original artwork and subtle design details.

“The more you look, the more you find,” Quinn says. “There’s something more than meets the eye.”

After initially exploring overseas production, Quinn realized he needed greater control over design, development and quality. He is now working closely with product developers in North Vancouver and manufacturing partners to create durable, carefully constructed performance wear.

NEDC provided working capital to help Quinn move Draxon forward. While development has taken longer than expected, he remains committed to getting the quality right rather than rushing products to market.

For Quinn, Draxon brings together culture, family, art, military experience and athletics, guided by a warrior ethos and a commitment to precision—a philosophy captured in the brand’s tagline, “Precision Without Limits.”

“Draxon is built around the modern warrior: disciplined in preparation, precise in execution and purposeful in how strength is used.”
