Blue Moon Marquee: Music, Culture & Connection

Duncan, BC - Blue Moon Marquee is building exciting international momentum, bringing their music to new audiences while creating meaningful connections through culture, stories and song.

They recently performed for thousands of fans at a FIFA event before spending a month in New Orleans for Folk Alliance International, a major gathering of artists, presenters, bookers and music industry professionals from around the world.

A highlight of the experience was participating in an international Indigenous sharing circle with musicians from different countries. Artists shared songs, stories and updates from their communities, creating a meaningful opportunity for cultural exchange. Blue Moon Marquee also connected with Elder Greyhawk, who offered encouragement for the way they bring Indigenous traditions and culture into contemporary music.“It truly puts wind in our sails,” they shared.

The experience comes as their latest album, Get Your Feathers Ready, a collaboration with Northern Cree, continues to receive recognition, including an Indigenous Artist of the Year award.

Their travels have also taken them on a West Coast tour to California and north to Sitka and Ketchikan, Alaska, aboard a festival cruise where they performed daily for passengers from around the world.

Along the way, they have been especially moved by the diversity of their audiences. At all-ages shows, they often see three or four generations dancing together. For Blue Moon Marquee, those moments are a reminder of music’s ability to bring people together, step away from their screens and simply be present.

That connection was especially powerful at a recent show in Fernie, A grieving Elder attended the concert at the encouragement of her grandson. She had been spending much of her time at home while working through her grief, but when Blue Moon Marquee began playing, she got up and danced.

For the musicians, moments like that are among the greatest gifts of performing. And there is much more ahead.

Blue Moon Marquee will travel to Spain in October to work with a record label, record new music and perform. They are also exploring opportunities to bring their music to film and television.

One of those opportunities is already taking shape. After submitting their music for a television production connected to Indigenous filmmaker Sterlin Harjo, one of their songs has been selected for an upcoming show. More details are expected in November 2026.

From international stages to intimate moments on the dance floor, Blue Moon Marquee continues to grow while staying grounded in what matters most: sharing music, culture and stories that create connection.

And wherever the road takes them next, they hope people will keep getting out of their chair and dance!
