Duncan, B.C. - An incredible two-day IWE Workshop in Duncan brought together Indigenous women entrepreneurs, facilitators, and community partners for a powerful experience of learning, sharing, and connection. Hosted at the Khowutzun Heritage Centre, the event was grounded in warmth, generosity, and community spirit.
Across the two days, participants explored practical and inspiring topics including “Building and Marketing Your Brand — YOUR Way!” and an introduction to business planning and budgeting, designed to support confidence and business growth. The workshop was enriched by facilitators Aunalee Boyd-Good and Tamara Wensley, whose knowledge and entrepreneurial experience helped guide participants through meaningful discussions and hands-on learning. Special guests also included Nicole Seeley of Indigenous Tourism BC, who shared opportunities within the tourism sector; Adrienne Peter of Hungry Bubbas, who provided meals and shared her entrepreneurial journey; and Stephanie Peter and Natalie Johnny of Romeo’s in Duncan, who offered an inspiring mother-daughter perspective on business and community.
Most importantly, the success of the workshop reflects the voices and contributions of all participants. Their openness in sharing experiences, goals, and challenges created a supportive environment rooted in encouragement and collaboration. The energy in the room highlighted the strength of Indigenous women entrepreneurs and their commitment to building businesses that reflect their values, identities, and communities.
