Andrea joined Indigenous entrepreneurs, business leaders, and changemakers from across the country for the national gathering, which celebrated Indigenous entrepreneurship, leadership, and community impact while creating opportunities for connection, mentorship, and collaboration.
Throughout the event, Andrea connected with mentors, fellow entrepreneurs, and Indigenous business leaders who helped broaden her perspective on what is possible for the future of Lagoon Prenatal and Indigenous entrepreneurship more broadly.
“It was the first time in my career where I truly felt like I was surrounded by like-minded people,” Andrea shared. “It made a real difference in the trajectory of my business.”
Andrea reflected on how meaningful it was to witness Indigenous communities creating pathways for prosperity, support, and long-term economic growth through entrepreneurship and community-driven initiatives.
Receiving the award was both emotional and unexpected for Andrea.
“When I heard my name being called, I felt excited, humbled, grateful, and elevated all at once,” she said. “It was never something I expected and wasn’t even on my radar.”
Andrea also emphasized the importance of connection and support for Indigenous youth entering entrepreneurship.
“Entrepreneurship can feel lonely, but you don’t have to do it alone,” she shared. “There are people who genuinely want to support you. Find others who are walking a similar path and surround yourself with people who want to grow and create prosperity together.”
NEDC congratulates Andrea on this well-deserved recognition and looks forward to seeing the continued growth and impact of Lagoon Prenatal within the community and beyond.
