Nuu-chah-nulth Language & Culture Program (NLCP): 

A partnership with The Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund. This program is designed to assist in the transfer and preservation of the Nuu-chah-nulth language as follows:


This fund is available to all Nuu-chah-nulth tribes, individuals and companies owned by Nuu-chah-nulth.


To support short-term projects that produce materials which assist in the revitalization and maintenance of the Nuu-chah-nulth (NCN) language.

Timeline of Proposed Project:

Approved projects will be announced by April 26, 2019.

All projects approved for funding must be completed before December 31, 2019. 

Final reports are due by January 25, 2020

Program Details:


Eligible costs:

Eligible costs: Direct costs of producing Nuu-chah-nulth language resources/materials/tools.  Note:  NEDC restricts the amount of wages chargeable to the program to $25 to fund more projects.

In-kind costs:  Admin, telephone, internet, project management, and existing staff (including project coordinator, if existing) costs are INELIGIBLE for NLP funding BUT are included in project costs as an in-kind contributionThe 25% of project costs from other and/or personal sources may be fully in-kind.

The program will not fund in-kind expenses, existing costs (costs that will be incurred whether the project proceeds or not), or costs funded by other funders.

Funding Available:

NEDC receives $25,000 in total and funds 3 to 10 projects per year ranging between $1,000 and $10,000 per project.


By funding your project, NEDC is not contracting you to conduct the work.

NEDC reserves the right to prorate contributions based on percentage of project completed.
