Building a Legacy of Healing: Linda Pelech and Raven’s River Rest

Accommodations, Health & Wellness | Port Alberni, BC

Linda Pelech is from the Tseshaht First Nation, with deep roots connected to her family and ancestral land. Her grandfather, Rodchester Peters, was a hereditary chief whose legacy continues to guide her work today. Raised by her father after losing her mother to alcoholism, her journey back to her Indigenous heritage was supported by her husband, who grew up on a reserve and helped her reconnect with her culture. Together, they reclaimed her family’s land in 2000, a property once belonging to her uncle, grounding their lives in place and purpose.

Her first business, Ener-Chi, grew from her passion for healing practices including Reiki, bodywork, breathwork, and hot stone treatments. Originally intended as a space for her son to live alongside her treatment practice, that vision changed after his sudden passing. In grief, Linda and her family transformed his living space into an Airbnb, turning loss into something meaningful. Launched in 2021 with no formal business training, the space was fully booked in its first year. At Raven’s River Rest, guests often describe a deep sense of calm and unexpected healing, with experiences that continue to affirm the purpose behind the work. While Linda and her husband continue their own journey through grief, their connection with guests has created a shared path of healing. Looking ahead, the vision is to grow into healing retreats and experiences and build a lasting legacy for her grandson. Support from NEDC has also played an important role in helping bring this vision to life and supporting the growth of the business.
