Awatin Aboriginal Art wins Best Arts & Culture award!

Established in 2016, Awatin Aboriginal Art Gallery is owned and operated by Darlene and Ernie Smith.  Ernie, a member of Ehattesaht First Nation, and his wife Darlene, Algonquin ancestry and an Ehattesaht First Nations member, excelled as business owners.

After completing an art training course, Ernie began his artistic journey creating west coast style silver and gold jewelry, often with semiprecious stone highlights.  The proud couple then created Awatin Aboriginal Art, a gallery in Campbell River that promotes Northwest Coast original artwork including wood carvings, paintings, drums, weaved baskets and silver work by local current and past artists.  It is clear the couple loves what they do and are interested in helping aboriginal entrepreneurs grow and thrive.

Well-earned and well deserved, all the best for the future, AWATIN!
